Just droppin a line to the GB folx I played with in SB...

:tease:

...if I may some help, I've heard rumors that AoC has some solid hardware req's to
get decent performance. Problem for me being as I've aged...I've gotten lazy and
haven't kept up with the tech side of things.

Run with a 2.8gz intel PENTIUM D SMITHFIELD processor.
Nvidia 6800 & 1gb ram.

How bad off am I? :-)

Heh, Heyya Jhora. It has been a while, a long while. How ya been mate, hope well?

I'll get you set up so you can see the rest of the forums.

Oh, and I'm not sure but I think you might be good with just a vid upgrade. But I'll leave that to Immy and Lex to awnser, they are more up to date on requirements.

Min Req

RAM: 1GB RAM
Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 and 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

I would add at least another Gig of ram, you may be fine with the graphics card. Which 6800 are you using?
I am not familiar with ratings on dual core compared to single core and how they correlate. IE 3ghz single core = ??? dual core.

Heya Jhora! It's been a while! :D

You'd like AoC - it's even more brutal than SB with all the decapitations and bloodletting.

I understand the upgrade dilemma, I finally up'd just recently after a couple of years of hemming and hawing. Before I bought my new rig, I was running Oblivion on high specs with my old (built Jan 2004) AMD 64 3000 (1.8GHz) / 1GB DDR / 7800 GS AGP. I'm pretty sure I could have run AoC with that rig... had it not blown up.

A memory and grfx upgrade like the lads mentioned would be a good idea if you can swing it. I bet your rig is AGP, if so that nVidia 7800 GS AGP card I was using was clocking FPS at the 7950 / 7800 GT level. It was awesome for an AGP that's for sure, and on my rig it meant going from locked up in the Oblivion character creation screen to able to play it with no lag on high settings. I was running Vanguard fairly well on medium settings (as well as their code allowed).

Hey, thanks folx much help... obviously I had no clue anymore on all the processor stuff,
but from what I've groked with searches..it should be 'ok'. Found that 'test' link after I posted, so
I'll run it when I get home.

Ram def not a problem upgrading, vid...we'll possible. Big concern was that
darn cpu. (checked, vid card if PCI-E).

Been doin pretty good, mainly just work and RL stuffage.
Started riding Mc again a couple years ago, had a accident early jan of this year.
Minor scratches/bruises but totaled the ride out... had to get a new ride,
but loving the savings in gas $.
